  • The Royal Ontario Museum is commemorating the 100th anniversary of the discovery of the Burgess Shale by the paleontologist Charles D. Walcott.

  • The HMS Beagle Project will be celebrating the bicentenary of Charles Darwin's birth by launching a sailing replica of HMS Beagle. An icon of scientific progress, she will circumnavigate the globe in Darwin's wake, crewed by aspiring scientists and researchers.

Cairo University, previously Egyptian University and later University) is an institute of higher education located in Giza, Egypt. The university was founded on December 21, 1908, as the result of an effort to establish a national center for educational thought. Several constituent colleges preceded the establishment of the university including the College of Engineering in 1816, which was shut down by Muhammad Said Pasha in 1854. Cairo University was founded as a European-inspired civil university, in contrast to the religious university of al-Azhar, and became the prime indigenous model for other state universities in the region. Cairo University includes a School of Law and a School of Medicine. The Medical School, also known as Kasr Alaini was one of the first medical schools in Africa and the Middle East. Its first building was donated by Alaini Pasha. Since then it has undergone extensive expansion.

The Fundacionjunto Paleontolo de Teruel-Dinis (Palaeontological Network Foundation of Teruel-Dinis) (Aragovernment) was founded in 1998 with the objectives of the management, in terms of cultural leisure, of the palaeontological resources of the Teruel area (Spain). Also, important established goals are the promotion of palaeontological research and the preservation and public diffusion of the Turolian fossiliferous heritage. The Fundacionjunto Paleontoló§©£o de Teruel Museum is an associate member of the Spanish Society of Paleontology (SEP), the Spanish Association forEarth Sciences Teaching (AEPECT) and the European Network of Science Centres ans Museums (ECSITE).
